These pictures were taken along the North
Slope Road of the Uintas. The graded gravel North Slope Road is
the main road that connects Route 150 (The Mirror Lake Highway) with many of
the trailheads on the northern slope of the Uintas. Generally, from
the North Slope Road Turnoff near the Bear River Ranger Station, trailheads from Christmas Meadows to the
East Fork Blacks Fork can be
accessed by this road. Trailheads further east, like Smiths Fork and
Henry's Fork, can be more easily accessed from Wyoming to the north.
Having driven the road in mid-June all the
way through late September, I can attest that it is easy to drive although
the section just east of Elizabeth Pass gets rough and "slower going" is
recommended. It is nonetheless
passable for most any vehicle.
